Weekly note:

Hi parents,

Yep, the bears are up! Take a minute this week to talk to your kids about how to (or, more importantly really, how NOT to) react when a bear is seen or heard about at school. Maybe make it a do-and-don't list. DO: stay quiet (so adults can give directions), stay put (so as not to spook the bear--or other kids). DON'T: scream, yell, run, hide, or go closer to the bear. And here's the thing--most kids can tell you all of that if you ask them. But do they get it right when the moment comes?

In addition to waking bears, another thing that happens every Spring is some of us fairer-lined individuals manage to get sunburned much earlier in the year than we think we will. If your child happens to fall in that category, you are welcome to send them in with sunscreen--but make sure it is labeled and kept in their bags. And please note that we are not allowed to let anyone share sunscreen, though we can help kids apply it.

As mentioned last week, we have three clubs to offer this Spring: Flag Football, Chess, and Climbing Wall. We were hoping to start all three next week, but so far we only have enough signups for Climbing. The signup for each club is in SchoolBucks, specifically in the EverAfter registration part (msbactivities.com).

Lastly, Evergreen has annual Spring Exhibition Nights coming on the 26th and 27th. In the past we've needed EverAfter to close early for these events, but this year we've got it worked out to still be open until 6:00.

Thanks!

- James

FAQ of the Week

How to clubs and sports work with daily care?

  • When your child is signed up for a club, they attend EverAfter that day like normal, and you sign them out the same way you always do. But, instead of paying a daily fee for that day, you instead pay one fee for the dates covered by the club session. Your child will come to EverAfter like they usually do, go off and do the club during club time, and are still welcome to stay as late as 6:00 like any other day.
